Monaco, the new capital of cinema without borders
The Principality of Monaco has been a shining star on the international film scene for decades. The first edition of the GSIFF is scheduled for June 15–18, 2026, at the prestigious Cinéma des Beaux-Arts. The event aims to build a creative and dynamic bridge between the film markets of the Far East and the West, boldly paving the way for the future of the moving image.
Founded by Anita Chui, a British-Chinese actress and producer known for her work in more than 20 films across Asia and Europe, the GSIFF is no ordinary film festival. It is a vision—that of a woman who has navigated both worlds of cinema and chosen Monaco to bring them together.
Anita Chui: A Pioneer’s Vision
Some careers command respect. Anita Chui’s is one of them. Trained in the United Kingdom, she launched her acting career in Hong Kong in 2012 and quickly established herself there as a leading figure in Asian cinema. But her vision extends beyond the borders of a single continent.
Her most notable work as an international producer remains the Franco-Italian film FOLLIA, co-produced with French director Charles Guérin-Surville. Developed in 2018, shot in Sicily in 2019, and released in theaters in more than 10 countries in 2023, this project made her the youngest Chinese producer in history to lead a European co-production of a big-budget independent film.
“Our goal for the Golden Shadow International Film Festival is to create an elite creative hub where tradition blends with innovation.”
— Anita Chui, founder of the GSIFF
Driven by this conviction, she founded the GSIFF in Monaco, the Principality she chose for its uniqueness, its international influence, and its ability to bring together excellence in all its forms.
The Cinéma des Beaux-Arts: Nearly a Century of Magic on the Big Screen
The choice of venue is no coincidence. Founded in the 1930s and boasting nearly a century of cinematic tradition, the Cinéma des Beaux-Arts is an iconic landmark in Monaco, currently run by Arthur Tréhet, the third-generation owner of this institution.
With its Belle Époque façade, large screen, and unique atmosphere, the Cinéma des Beaux-Arts is much more than just a movie theater—it is a living monument to Monaco’s cultural history. Hosting the first edition of the GSIFF in this venue means forging a link between the past and the future of cinema, between the heritage of a Principality and the ambition of a festival resolutely focused on the world.
ART VISION Digital Agency: the communications and events agency for the Monaco Cinema
Serena and Fedora Bonomi-Karkour, co-founders of ART VISION Digital Agency in Monte Carlo, are part of the official events and communications team at the Cinéma de Monaco for the Golden Shadow International Film Festival (GSIFF). Our agency is proud to support the launch of this historic festival for the Principality, alongside a vision as ambitious as that of Anita Chui and an institution as iconic as the Cinéma des Beaux-Arts under the direction of Arthur Tréhet.
For ART VISION, this event perfectly illustrates what we deeply believe: that Monaco is much more than just a place—it is a global stage. Cinema, like communication and the digital world, has the power to transcend borders and create experiences that leave a lasting impression.
